Lake Washington Remodel

As Seen In: Dezeen

This project is a modern family home on the shores of Lake Washington, overhauled by Seattle-based SkB Architects with one clear intention: to let the light in.  White Stucco, gallery walls, and floor-to-ceiling glass opened a house that had long turned its back on the landscape around it.  What remained - what grounded it - was the floor.

LV Wood's oak runs throughout the main living spaces, it's dark tone doing the quiet work that only wood can do: warming a room without softening it, anchoring a palette without competing with it.  Against the white walls and stone countertops, the floor reads as both contrast and continuity - the one material that belongs equally to the land outside and the life lived within.
